The hotel's name is due to Avaris, a legendary character who was extremely famous during the 6th century B.C. Avaris was one of the greatest diviners and magicians, as well as a forerunner of Pithagoras. He forsaw serious disasters and phenomenons such as earthquakes while according to the tradition he used to fly in the sky sitting on the divine arrow of Apollo.
